Finding solutions to dry, dull and damaged hair is as easy as going to the local store, but why not try a natural concoction with simple ingredients you can find in your own home? My friend Esthera Preda inspired me to use home remedies for dried out ends and you should definitely try out one of these quick recipes for yourself!
Avocado and Coconut Deep Conditioner
Mix and mash one ripe avocado and coconut milk (or sub real mayo) to a desired constancy for your hair. Work thoroughly into wet hair then wrap with warm towel or plastic wrap. For extra damaged hair use a blow dryer to heat activate the recipe in 2:5 intervals (2 min drying 5 min to let it sit).
Avocado Hair Mask
1 ripe avocado (over ripe avocados contain more natural oils which is good for your hair)
1/4 cup plain oatmeal
1 cup milk
1/8 to 1/4 cup of olive oil (more oil will be messy, but if your hair is brittle, very dry, and prone to breakage, you’ll need more!)
2 tablespoons vodka (double it for extra shine – yep) you may also substitute this with vinegar
1. Heat oatmeal and milk in microwave for 5 mins. Drain milk and discard oatmeal (or you can add 2 tablespoons of vitamin E/olive oil for a nice face mask).
2. Mash and mix avocado and olive oil. Once well mixed, add vodka and mix. Vodka/vinegear will get rid of any build up from the recipe and helps brighten and shine hair.
3. Slowly stir in milk so it doesn’t curdle. Wrap with warm towel or plastic wrap around your head to better penetrate hair. Leave in for 30 mins. Rinse.
Honey and Banana Hair Mask
Sounds delicious doesn’t it? Mix and mash a banana with 1 cup of honey. Mix in 1 egg and 5 tablespoons of olive oil. After applying to damp hair let it soak in for 15-30 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The more damaged, the longer you want to leave it in.
