4 Healthy and Easy Snacks

I love snacks. The only problem is that most snacks are completely unhealthy and a waste of calories. While trying to swear off chips and cookies completely is hard for most, finding healthy and yummy alternatives is a great way to stay content and not feel like crap for eating bad. Here are a few of my favorite snacks that are simple to make and taste delicious.

Bananas with Almond Butter and Cinnamon

This snack is a good afternoon pick-me-up or after-dinner dessert option. Simply slice a banana in four to six pieces, layer on some almond butter and add a sprinkle of cinnamon. You are sure to feel full and your sweet tooth will be satisfied too.

Celery and Carrots with Hummus

Hummus is all the rage. And while it’s hard to resist dipping crackers in this delicious mashed chickpea delight, getting some veggies in there is a great alternative and will make you feel better. Get your greens in by dipping a few celery sticks and carrots into your hummus of choice. Make sure to have a few pieces cut or pre-made and only eat that amount, as it’s often easy to over indulge with hummus.

Tomatoes with Mozzarella

Get your cheese fix with slices or balls of mozzarella coupled with sliced tomato and a dash of salt and pepper. Add olive oil and basil if you want to get fancy. This is also a good appetizer at parties, made with a toothpick to hold it together.

Granola with Greek Yogurt and Fruit

A quick boost can always be found in the go-to granola with yogurt and fruit. Make sure to read the ingredients on the granola though; a lot of store bought granola tends to go overboard with added sugar and extra stuff like chocolate, honey and dried fruit. Stick to the most basic and you’ll be safe. Pair a cup of granola with non-fat plain Greek yogurt and blueberries, strawberries or any fruit you prefer sliced on top. This is a great, quick breakfast option.

Eating healthy is tough. Eating for cheap and making it quick is even harder. Hopefully these ideas will get your mind working to get creative with your own snacks. Let us know recipes you like in the comments and ways you eat healthy on the daily.
