The Kit

At Burton, we heavily use the term “kit”. Basically your kit refers to your overall look/ensemble for the mountain (aka your ‘outerwear kit’). Or it refers to your new board/boot/binding setup (aka your ‘hardgoods kit’). Or it can absolutely refer to your whole set up (ie., your ‘head-to-toe kit’). You get the idea.

And picking your kit is a sport around here. Each season, you jockey for the best pieces in the line and claim them, to ensure every girl doesn’t drop in on the same look (god forbid!). You probably never thought there was such strategy in dressing for snowboarding, but trust me there is. Snowboarding is an individual sport anchored in style, both in your gear and your riding, and claiming your look is definitely half the fun.

So in the spirit of this, I would like to share what I call my ‘Early Season Softgoods Kit’ (because of course a girl never just runs one look all season!). Photos are below, along with links to product info about each style.

AMD’s Early Season Softgoods Kit:

Jacket: Burton Cora Pullover Jacket

I’m seriously obsessed with this jacket and the Acid Wash colorway. It is so dope for street and mountain wear! (Note: this piece is also shown above in my burton girls holiday photo, well complimented by my Akita named Aiko).

Pant: Burton Women’s Lizzy Pant

Who doesn’t love the rock n’ roll leather look? You can shred then party, all in the same pants!

First Layer Top: Burton Wmn’s Mid Weight Crew

Seriously comfortable, well fitting and the print is amazing with mini-Sumo wrestlers.

First Layer Bottom: Burton Wmn’s Midweight Pant

Same goes for the matching bottoms. I want to rock these as leggings!

Beanie: Women’s Bertha Beanie

Great fit, slight slouch.

Gloves: Burton Women’s Favorite Leather Glove

Love, love, love these on the mountain.

Socks: Burton Women’s Trillium Sock

If you don’t have Burton socks, you need them. Enough said.

And that just about covers it. And of course when it comes to creating your own kit, at Burton the options are endless. My advice? Just take your time, and be yourself. You don’t want to look like a different person on the mountain than you do on the street. Make your kit an extension of you, and you’ll look and feel great….

Happy kit-ing!!

Anne-Marie.
