6 Soundtracks for Your Next Roadtrip

Ah, the ever so important roadtrip soundtrack. I’ve driven cross country on tour, through Canada and outside the U.S. (on the other side of the road, very tricky indeed). The roadtrip soundtrack is just as essential to an experience as the scenery you are driving through. The key factor, is being able to put an album on without needing to skip ONE record. That equates to a true roadtrip soundtrack. There are many generic road trip albums out there but in my experience, the ones below are the best!

Theophilus London “Jam Mixtape”
This was his first body of work he ever released and I can’t tell you how many times over and over this played in my car while driving through the mid-west. You won’t have to skip or change any song on this mixtape. Definitely Theo’s first masterpiece!

Clueless Movie Soundtrack
Not only is this movie a cult classic but the soundtrack was perfection! The best mix of pop, punk, rock and hip hop. And who could forget “Rollin with the homies…”!

Erykah Badu “Mama’s Gun”
More on the relaxed side, this is a perfect album to play at night or when driving through a forest. The album is one continuous song, so you are provided with non-stop neo-soul from Queen Badu.

Dirty Dancing Soundtrack
This is my favorite album to put on while driving in a beach town. I guess it relates back to the movie and Baby’s lake house, relaxed atmosphere. Plus you can guarantee that almost everyone in the car will know the words ;)

The Roots “Do You Want More?!!!??!”
I’ve driven to many a rope swing with this playing. A perfect blend of hip-hop and jazz, this album could be playing on repeat for hours. This is one of the original Roots albums, if you’ve never heard you must get it asap!

Footloose Soundtrack
An 80′s masterpiece! Again, if you want everyone in a good mood while driving, pop this soundtrack in. Made for dancing, most people will find a way to dance in the car.

There are many more I could add to list, perhaps I’ll do a Part II in a few months! What is your favorite roadtrip soundtrack? List it below!
