Viva Forever: 5 Looks Inspired by The SpiceGirls
Posted on by Amanda Wormann

It happened. The SpiceGirls are back.

Regardless of your personal stance on the five woman powerhouse, they represent the diversity of women and demonstrate the exercise of personal preference – especially when it comes to wardrobe. So in celebration of their reunion, I bring you five wearable looks inspired by their Closing Ceremonies performance.

Baby Spice
Pink is synonymous with Baby Spice, and there’s no other dress that comes to mind here other than my girl Leah McSweeney’s Rebound Dress. You may know Leah as the badass creator of the women’s streetwear brand, Married to the Mob – but what you really need to know is that she recently released a few playful pieces under a self-titled collection Leah McSweeney. How cute is this fuschia dress?!

Originally $162, the Rebound Dress by Leah McSweeney is on sale now at karmaloop.com for $80.95. Love the shoes? Get em here.

Posh Spice
Mrs. Beckham looked stunning as usual in a black strapless by Giles Deacon. The long, flowing train isn’t necessarily optimal for everyday wear, but this hand-washable black racerback dress from Nasty Gal gives you a similar feel suitable for any time of day.

Ginger Spice
In seventh grade, a few of my girlfriends and I practiced days on end to perfect our ‘Spice Up Your Life’ dance routine that we choreographed from scratch. When we performed the final product at our talent show we pulled out all the tricks – Spice Girls bubble gum to throw out to the crowd, smoke machines, and most memorable was our handcrafted costumes to match each character we represented. I was Ginger Spice. And still to this day, I remember shopping for that getup: A Union Jack (aka United Kingdom Flag) tanktop I scored at Joyce Leslie paired with a white mini-skirt that was way too short for a Catholic School talent show. Anyways, my point is. Ginger Spice’s Union Jack corset became a Spice Girls trademark and a constant reminder of the girl’s British roots.

The ol’ Union Jack made a return at the Closing Ceremonies performance, except this time around it was sewn into the bustel of her Suzanne Neville dress. She looked gorg. And while Ginger pulled off the look flawlessly, not all of us can get away with having a flag ornament hang from our derriere. This Kalmanovich Rasberry Peplum dress brings the same frills and fire as Ms. Halliwell’s but is simple enough to dress up or down. AND it’s 70% off on ShopBop.com. Hurry!

Sporty Spice
Formerly known for her sports bra and warm-up pants combo, Sporty Spice took it up a notch for the Closing Ceremonies donning a crisp white jumpsuit. For shorties like myself the jumpsuit isn’t really an option, but if you got some legs check out this clean look from Ellie Tahari (also on sale!)

Mayla Jumpsuit by Ellie Tahari, $299 on shopbop.com

Scary Spice
Kitted in a blinged out Zuhair Murad catsuit (same guy who makes em for JLo), Scary Spice’s getup was the only one that left me feeling a little…scared. Don’t get me wrong, she looked fabulous and rocked it well – it’s just not my cup of tea. This Gabby Sequin dress from NastyGal though is perfection. Dress it up with some heels or cas it out with some boots – this is a steal at 40 bucks. Oh and it’s a perfect go-to holiday party dress that you’ll keep in your closet forever.

Since we’re on the topic of the Beckhams, here’s some eye candy for you. David Beckham in the Burton All Day Long Beanie. Drool.

And there you have it, happy shopping!
